Hi Kids,

Welcome to the Guidance Blizzard Bag Site!  Today is a Blizzard Bag Day!!  Please complete the Guidance assignment if today is the day you have Guidance class.  If you have any questions, you can reach Mrs. Wynne at mwynne@sau21.org.

Kindergarten

Please color in the "I Am a Bucket Filler" coloring page.  Being a bucket filler means you say and do kind/ helpful things to make others feel good.  You fill their invisible bucket and when you fill their bucket, you also fill your own bucket...you feel good too! As you color, think about how YOU are a bucket filler.  What kind of things do you do or say to make others feel good.

This activity should take you no more than 30 minutes.  Please bring your completed coloring page to school and pass it in to your classroom teacher.

First Grade

Please go to The Rainbow Fish and watch and listen to Ernest Borgnine read "The Rainbow Fish" by Marcus Pfister.  The read aloud will take 6 minutes.  As you listen to the story, think about the following questions:

1.  What was so special about the Rainbow Fish?

2.  Why wouldn't the other fish have anything to do with the

     Rainbow Fish?

3.  Why was the Rainbow Fish the loneliest fish in the entire 

     ocean?

4.  What advice did the Octopus give to the Rainbow Fish?

 Now color the picture of the Rainbow Fish in your own, special way and bring your picture to school to hand in to your classroom teacher. 

This activity should take you about 30 minutes.

2nd Grade

Watch Enemy Pie, by Derek Munson.  This is a story about turning a best enemy into a best friend.  Please answer the questions found in your Blizzard Bag.  You can also find a copy here. It should take you about 30 minutes to complete this assignment.  Please bring your completed assignment to school and hand it in to your classroom teacher.

3rd Grade

Watch Thank You, Mr. Falker by Patricia Polacco. This is a story about Trisha, a girl who struggles to learn to read. Her classmates make matters worse by calling her names. Then, a new teacher comes along and changes her life.  It is a story about making a difference!

Please do the writing assignment found in your Blizzard Bag. You can also find a copy of the assignment here.  It should take you about 30 minutes to complete this assignment.  Please bring your completed assignment to school and hand it in to your classroom teacher.

4th Grade

6th Grade

Please complete the How I Am A Person of Character worksheet found in your Blizzard Bag. Please use complete sentences and proper grammar.  If you need more room to answer your questions completely, use the back of the worksheet.  

It should take you no more than 30 minutes to complete this assignment.  Please bring your completed assignment to school and hand it in to your classroom teacher.

7th Grade

What is resiliency?  Resiliency is "the power or ability to recover readily from illness, depression, adversity, or the like".  This assignment will be about resiliency and attitude.  Please read the essay Getting Started and answer the questions found here. It should take you about 30 minutes to complete this assignment.  Please bring your completed assignment to school and hand it in to your homeroom teacher.

8th Grade

What is the definition of disability?  Disability is "a physical or mental condition that limits a person's movements, senses, or activities".  Please read the essay Life With A Disability by Amber Junker, and answer the questions found here.  It should take you about 30 minutes to complete this assignment.  Please bring your completed assignment to school and hand it in to your homeroom teacher.
